Crafted Call

Tracking Entries from Ads, Posters and Newsletters

Gallery OwnersUpdated Oct 13, 2026

If you promote a call with a Google ad, a Google Ad Grant, a poster or a newsletter, a short link is how you learn which one brought entries. Crafted Call has no ad-buying tool of its own: you run the ad in Google Ads and point it at your call through a short link. The short link then counts the clicks it received and the entries submitted after them.

Who can do this: Owners and Admins. Short links come with the Marketing Hub, which is included in the Gallery and Premier plans; see Plans and Pricing.

One link per place you promote

  1. Open the call and choose Share, then Create Short Link.
  2. Give the link a name you'll recognise later, such as spring-google-ad, or leave it blank for a generated one.
  3. Use that link, and only that link, in the ad. Make a second link for the poster and a third for the newsletter.

Separate links are the whole point. One link shared everywhere tells you the call got entries, not which promotion earned them.

Seeing what each link brought in

Open Short Links in the admin menu and choose a link's analytics. Clicks counts visits through the link, and Submissions counts entries made after someone arrived through it, so Clicks → submissions is the number that tells you whether the ad paid off.

What Insights → Audience can and can't tell you

Audience shows visits to your public pages grouped by where they came from: search, social, email and so on. A click on a Google ad is counted as search, together with ordinary Google searches, and Audience does not read UTM tags. So Audience can't separate an ad from organic search. Use a short link for that.

Tips

  • Make the links before the ad goes live. A link added halfway through only counts from that day.
  • Keep links for the same call side by side. Comparing three links for one call is fairer than comparing links for different calls.
  • Pair a link with a discount code when you want an offer too: see Coupon Codes & Discounts. The code tells you who redeemed it; the link tells you where they came from.
