Embedding Your Gallery on Another Website

Gallery OwnersUpdated Oct 14, 2026

The gallery widget puts an exhibition's artworks on a page you already run, whether that is your own site, a partner's, or a sponsor's. Visitors browse the work in place and click through to the piece on Crafted Call when they want details or to enquire. You get a snippet, you paste it, and the widget keeps itself up to date as the show changes.

You will find it on the exhibition's Tools tab, in the Embed Gallery Widget card. Choose Embed Code to open the builder. The card only appears once the exhibition is public, because a private show has nothing to embed.

Building the snippet

The builder has five choices, and the snippet updates as you change them:

  • Embed Type: iframe or Script Tag. Start with iframe.
  • Layout: Grid, Carousel, or List.
  • Theme: Light or Dark. Pick whichever matches the page you are pasting into.
  • Call to Action: None, View piece, Inquire, or Buy.
  • Max Artworks: 6, 12, 20, or 50.

Copy the snippet, then paste it into your site.

The two snippet types

iframe is the safe default, with one step first: add the address of every site you will paste it on under Settings → Embed Widgets → Allowed Embed Domains. Browsers refuse to show the frame on a site that is not on that list, and the list starts empty. The iframe comes with a short script that listens for the widget's own height and resizes the frame, so the gallery is never cut off or padded with dead space:

<!-- Crafted Call Gallery Embed -->
<iframe
  src="https://www.craftedcall.com/embed/gallery/your-org/your-exhibition?layout=grid&theme=light&limit=20&cta=view"
  style="width: 100%; border: none; min-height: 400px;"
  title="Gallery"
  loading="lazy"
></iframe>
<script>
  /* resize listener included with the snippet */
</script>

Script Tag renders the gallery into your own page instead of a frame, which suits a site where you want the work to inherit surrounding styles:

<!-- Crafted Call Gallery Widget -->
<div
  data-cc-gallery="your-exhibition"
  data-cc-org="your-org"
  data-theme="dark"
></div>
<script src="https://www.craftedcall.com/embed/gallery.js" async></script>

Only the settings that differ from the defaults appear as attributes, so a plain grid snippet is shorter than a customised one. Both types include your organization in the address, so an exhibition whose name matches one at another gallery still resolves to yours.

Pasting it into your site

  1. Copy the snippet from the dialog.
  2. In your site's editor, switch to the HTML or code view. Many builders call this an Embed or Custom HTML block.
  3. Paste the snippet and save.

Paste into a code view, never into a rich-text area. A rich-text area escapes the tags and prints the snippet as visible text rather than rendering the gallery.

The call to action

Call to Action controls the button on each piece. None keeps the card a quiet link, which suits an archive page. View piece sends the visitor to the artwork. Inquire and Buy point them at the same page with the intent stated up front, which is worth doing when the show is selling.

One thing happens automatically: a piece that is sold or reserved falls back to View piece, so a Buy button never sits next to a Sold badge.

Knowing where the traffic came from

Every click through from an embed carries two markers on the destination address: one saying the visit came from an embed, and one naming the site it was embedded on. That means traffic from a partner's page and traffic from your own page are distinguishable, without you having to build tracking links by hand.

Where embedding works and where it does not

Embed the widget on a page you control: a dedicated exhibition page, an archive of past shows, a partner or sponsor page, a press page, or an artist's own site.

It will not work in an email. Email clients strip scripts and frames. Link to the page holding the embed instead, or to the exhibition on Crafted Call.

Social platforms do not accept pasted HTML either. Share a link to a page that carries the embed.

Also worth knowing for search: content inside an iframe is not indexed as part of your page. Write the exhibition description in your own page text, above the widget, so the page still says what the show is.

Troubleshooting

Nothing appears where the snippet should be. The snippet was probably pasted into a rich-text field, which escaped it. Paste it into an HTML or code block instead.

The iframe shows a blank or "refused to connect" box. The site is not in Settings → Embed Widgets → Allowed Embed Domains. Add its address (for example https://mygallery.com, or *.mygallery.com for every subdomain) and reload the page after a minute.

The gallery is cut off or has a large gap below it. The iframe snippet ships with a resize script. If you copied only the iframe tag and left the script behind, copy the whole snippet again.

There is no Embed Code button on the exhibition. The exhibition has to be public. Publish it, then reopen the Tools tab.

Fewer works appear than the show contains. Max Artworks caps what the widget renders. Raise it, or link to the full exhibition for the rest.

A Buy button is missing on a piece. It is sold or reserved. Those pieces show View piece instead.
